MPH Reviews

The PHILE Network has been working with MPH programs nationally to review the integration of Indigenous content and Indigenous core competencies within MPH programs and to disseminate the findings. The review aims were to:

• identify what is working well in the Indigenous component of MPH programs, what could be improved and how that can be achieved;
• describe key innovations to integrate and enhance Indigenous public health content; and
• disseminate examples of good practice to academic MPH programs nationally.

The review was also intended to build institutional capacity in Indigenous public health in three ways:

• strengthening the capacity of key Indigenous academics within the National Indigenous Public Health Curriculum Network through their engagement in a program of curriculum review activities;
• strengthening the integration of the core Indigenous public health competencies within the national MPH curriculum; and
• disseminating exemplars of best practice regarding the integration of Indigenous curriculum components within MPH programs.

A pilot was conducted at the University of New South Wales in 2011. During 2012-13 a further seven reviews have been completed. Reports from the reviews can be accessed through the publications page as they become available (members access only).
